The new second edition of Design Guide 18, Steel Parking Structures, newly updated to conform to the 2022 AISC Specification and the 16th-edition Steel Construction Manual, provides new content, including general information about parking design and geometrics. This session provides an overview of the design guide, highlighting structural guidance that can be found for steel parking structures. This session will also discuss framing systems, lateral design, and barrier systems, as well as constructability and durability. Design examples and guidance on repair and maintenance strategies are also included.
