This session focuses on design considerations, limitations, pitfalls, etc. when designing connections to HSS columns, from the perspective of a connection design engineer. Attendees will learn tips for sizing HSS columns for Engineers of Record. The session will cover general HSS information and resources, shear connection considerations, lateral connection considerations, column splices, and will look at two examples of unique challenges and solutions.
