To maintain stability, structures require a complete load path that enables an adequate and safe transfer of loads from their point of application through the load-resisting elements to the foundation. This webinar will introduce load path concepts in steel buildings, drawing upon examples from historical, real-world structures. The role of computer modeling in determining load paths is then presented along with a discussion of common load path issues encountered in building design. Finally, the importance of load path communication through various design stages is reiterated and supplemented with relevant project documentation examples.
