End plates can be designed to create a fully restrained moment connection suitable for all types of loading (including seismic) without the need for field welding. This session will give an overview of end-plate moment connection design using the new AISC Design Guide 39, which supersedes previous editions of Design Guides 4 and 16. Design for both gravity and wind loading and high seismic ductility will be presented and compared.
