Speakers

Mike Kyzer

 Christopher Raebel, SE, PE, PhD   

Christopher H. Raebel, SE, PE, PhD, is the vice president of engineering and research at AISC, and he serves as past president of ASCE-AEI. His areas of expertise include structural steel design; steel connection analysis and design; robustness in steel-framed structures; floor vibrations due to occupant activities; and engineering education. Prior to joining AISC in 2022, Raebel was a faculty member and department chair in the Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management Department at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). In 2016, Raebel was one of the first recipients of AISC's Early Career Faculty Award, which has since been renamed to honor Terry Peshia. He was the chair of the 2015 AEI Conference, and he received AISC-AEI’s 2016 Outstanding Administrative Service Award. Raebel holds a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from MSOE, a master's degree in architectural engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, and a doctoral degree in civil engineering from Marquette University. He's a licensed professional engineer in seven states, and he’s a licensed structural engineer in Illinois.
