Steel framing systems offer an efficient system for use in parking structures, but because of the harsh, exposed environments there are additional considerations to address during the design to ensure successful long-term performance. This presentation will summarize design considerations for strength, serviceability, fire protection, and durability as well as a perspective on detailing for successful in-service performance. Additionally, maintenance considerations and life cycle costs will be evaluated.
