Navigating the FHWA Memorandum on Acoustic Dissimilarities in Steel Ultrasonic Weld Inspection (PDH)

On December 13, 2024, FHWA issued a memorandum titled “Recommendations to Account for Acoustic Dissimilarities in Steel Ultrasonic Weld Inspection”.  The memorandum has raised many questions about current and future ultrasonic testing of welds used in highway bridges.  First, the webinar will present a basic review of the issues raised in the memo in the context of ultrasonic inspection of CJP welds.  Next, answers to common questions associated with implementation of the memo along with the most current recommendations for moving forward based on the latest research.
