There are many factors that are known to impact structural stability, and modern computer software is a tool that makes it easy to use non-linear computational analysis as a virtual lab to learn important concepts related to designing for stability. This presentation provides an overview of several learning modules developed to give a better understanding of structural stability topics such as elastic and inelastic flexural and lateral-torsional buckling, inelastic force redistribution, and second-order effects . Participants are encouraged to download a simple analysis software package (at no charge) and to work on the examples and modules at the conclusion of the lecture.
