New Research: SpeedCore with Bolted Splices [I7] 2026

The Composite Steel Plate Walls/Concrete-Filled (C-PSW/CFs) structural system, also known as “SpeedCore” is becoming an attractive option for the lateral force resisting system of buildings, due to its many positive features, but largely on account of its rapid speed of construction. This translates into substantial savings, particularly when used in buildings having a core-wall system. This has been demonstrated in recent projects built in California and Washington State. However, in many parts of the country, field-bolting is preferred. This session will provide information on the Speedcore system, on experimentally validated bolted splice details that can be used where established construction practice relies on field bolting, and example projects where Speedcore with bolted splices has been used.
