This webinar draws from nearly 160 years of success using structural steel in railway bridges. We include descriptions of some of the earliest examples of steel railway bridges in the U.S. as well as recently installed monumental spans. The webinar concludes with a detailed discussion of emerging trends in short-span steel railway bridge design and construction. The recommended practices referenced in the webinar are those contained in "Chapter 15—Steel Structures" in the Manual for Railway Engineering (MRE) published by the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA).
