End-plate moment connections allow fast field erection of rigid connections without requiring any field welding. When designed for gravity or wind loads, these connections may exhibit a behavior governed by end-plate yielding or bolt rupture. When used in an intermediate or special moment frame, the connection is designed so that a plastic hinge forms in the beam. In this two-part webinar series, concepts, design procedures, and design examples will be presented for end-plate moment connections consistent with the newly released AISC Design Guide 39.
The first session will include an introduction to the concepts and focus on gravity/wind design, while the second session will cover seismic design principles and the related design process.
