This lecture moves composite design out of the classroom and into the field. Common design and detailing issues are discussed such as the effect of floor openings, slab penetrations, and slab depressions on composite beam designs. Strengthening of composite beams is covered. Recommendations on best practices and tips for more constructible composite designs will also be presented on topics varying from deck attachment to contraction joints.
